A recent CNN review showed that even big Red States like Texas have gone “Green”. The reason is jobs. Enabled green jobs have far outpaced Texas’ previous high in 2022, with 33,435 openings—an impressive 62.2% increase from the previous year. From engineering and construction to research and development, the renewable energy market offers a wide array of career paths for job seekers passionate about environmental sustainability and innovation. States like Kansas have done the same and have aggressively searched out opportunities to bring companies that are focused on advancing manufacturing technologies to support the green revolution. This was exemplified when the State of Kansas entered into an agreement with Panasonic Energy to put up a 30 GWh lithium-ion battery manufacturing plant that would create up to 4,000 jobs.

Solar energy has emerged as a leading contender in the quest for renewable energy sources, offering numerous benefits such as reduced greenhouse gas emissions and lower long-term energy costs. Amazingly, I have learnt over the years that most third-world countries are far more prevalent in using hydroelectricity as a necessity to keep their lights on. In countries like Sri Lanka, hundreds of micro-hydroelectric plants operate to produce electricity for subsistence communities. Jobs in this sector include hydroelectric engineers, dam safety inspectors, and environmental scientists specializing in water management. With ongoing efforts to modernize existing hydroelectric infrastructure and explore new hydroelectric projects in North America and around the world, the demand for skilled professionals remains steady.
Geothermal Energy

Geothermal energy, harnessing the heat from beneath the Earth's surface, offers careers in geothermal resource exploration, drilling operations, and geothermal power plant maintenance. Geologists, geophysicists, and geothermal engineers play vital roles in identifying viable geothermal sites and optimizing geothermal energy production techniques.
